Long time No See

Two friends get in contact 10 years after graduation. Practice your listening skills with a natural dialogue.

Marissa: Gloria? Wow, I can’t believe I finally got hold of you! It’s been, what—ten years?

Gloria: Marissa! Oh my gosh, I never expected to hear from you. Time really flies.

Marissa: I know! I’ve been trying to reach out to everyone from high school. Are you going to the reunion in July?

Gloria: I am, actually. It’ll be fun to catch up with everyone.

Marissa: That’s great. Do you keep in touch with anyone from back then?

Gloria: A few. I married Mark, believe it or not—we tied the knot three years ago.

Marissa: What?! No way! You two always had a connection.

Gloria: Yeah. I still talk to Brenda sometimes, but not Patricia, Kate, and certainly not Dan.

Marissa: Oh, what happened with Dan?

Gloria: We had a bit of a falling out. He had feelings for me, but I was into Mark. It got messy.

Marissa: Yikes. Did he give you the cold shoulder after that?

Gloria: For a while, yes. But I think he’s moved on.

Marissa: I haven’t really spoken to anyone in ages. It’s hard to get hold of people these days, even with social media.

Gloria: That’s so true. Maybe we can meet up somewhere before the reunion?

Marissa: I’d love that. Want to grab a bite this weekend?
Gloria: Yes! Let’s make it happen.
