Welcome to English Mini-Stories 1. These mini-stories are designed to help you improve your English vocabulary by learning through context. Each text contains five new words and two practice exercises.

How do I learn English vocabulary through context?
1. Avoid using a translator.
2. Look at how the word is used. Is it a noun, verb, adjective, etc.?
3. Look at the words around it. Are definitions provided? Are examples given?
4. Use Google images to get a visual. We remember things better when we see them. Additionally, finding images for abstract words may be challenging but helpful. This is because we spend more time building a connection, which may help long-term memory.
5. If you ultimately cannot understand a word, use a dictionary. If that doesn’t work. Translate.
